Let’s Talk Leggings: The Only Kind That I Will Wear

Hey Wassup Hello My Beautiful People!

If you are an avid follower of the Marg Fitness instagram page (which you all should be) you will know that today’s post is all about leggings! I posted a nice sweaty selfie yesterday in one of my new favorite pairs of leggings from none other than Old Navy, and realized that I have never done a post about what leggings I wear. Which shocked me a little bit, because I am loyal to two brands and two kinds of leggings. So I was very surprised that I have NEVER shared this very important facet of my fitness life with all of you. And before we start this, I want to let you guys know a little bit more about myself.

First of all

I am cheap. I am really cheap. I don’t love spending money. And when I do spend money I like to get a high volume of products for a small amount of money. Some of you may read that and think, how could you possibly get a lot of high quality leggings for cheap? You may be perplexed and confused by my spending philosophy, however I am going to prove to you that my cheap leggings are amazing, and that if you try them you will love them too.

And second of all

I will ONLY wear high waisted leggings. That is it. I do not mess with mid-rise, low-rise, any other kind of rise. ONLY high rise. Having the waist line of my pants actually where my waist is, is legit the only way I will wear a pair of leggings. And there is no way that I am the only person on this earth that loves high waisted leggings. I know my mom loves them too (shoutout to you Gigi).

Now Let’s Get into the Leggings!

Legging #1: High Rise Compression Crops by Old Navy

If you know me, you know I love Old Navy. Essentially my entire fitness, and everyday wardrobe is Old Navy. All of their clothes are so soft, comfy, and fit really well. In my humble opinion. I also have a very plain wardrobe, because if I am honest with you my wardrobe staples are either:

  • a plain t-shirt and jean shorts
  • a plain t-shirt and leggings
  • a plain t-shirt and jeans
  • a t-shirt dress

I am not kidding you guys, that is all I wear aside from active wear.

Ok, ok, but back to the leggings. I will only wear Old Navy’s High Rise Compression Crops. I have been wearing these kinds of leggings, and only these leggings, for about two years. I have about eleven pairs of these leggings, because that is how much I love them. Because they are compression leggings, they suck you in in the right places, and the waist band comes right up to about your belly button. I personally love that. The high rise makes me feel really comfortable in the gym, and I never feel like I have to fuss over my pants, or feel like I have to constantly pull them up so my booty crack isn’t showing. These pants would literally have to fall off in order for any part of my booty to show.

They make me feel comfortable and that is why I love them so much.

And I really feel that feeling comfortable in your active wear is important. This is something that I have seen one of my favorite Instagrammer’s/Fitspos, Small and Strong Fit, talk about on a couple different occasions. She talked in one of her Instagram discussions about how it is important to wear outfits that you are comfortable in, that you love, and that make you feel confident while you are at the gym. And that is important because then you are not concerned about what you look like, and you’re not feeling self conscious. When you are wearing an outfit that you feel confident in, you will work harder in the gym because, at least for me, all you will do is look at yourself in the mirror pounding out those reps and think to yourself how freaking strong and sexy you look.

These leggings are pretty high quality, and because they are on the cheaper side you can get a high quantity of them. In my two years I have only had to get rid of one singular pair of these leggings, and sadly it was my favorite pair. But I wore them at least once a week, probably more, and they just wore through the crotch on the inside. They were very well loved. But I have since found a new favorite pair, that I will put a picture of below. This particular pair is super soft, which is a huge reason why I love them, because you know, I love soft things.

These leggings are my everything.

Another thing that I love about the Old Navy Compression Crops is that they come in a crazy amount of patterns, colors, and different fabric types. So I have some that are a softer material, some that are a little thicker material, some that are striped, some with mesh, some with crazy digital art patterns, and some with flower patterns. There is a very large variety in this type of leggings, so I am sure that you would be able to find a pair that you love as well. Here are some of my crazier pairs…

Legging #2: Lisette High Waisted Leggings by Fabletics

Ya’ll know that I have recently become a little obsessed with Fabletics. And why wouldn’t I be? Their sales are insane, their clothes are cute, and 11 out of 10 times their outfits will make you feel sexy af. You will put on their outfits, and consequently not be able to keep yourself from checking yourself out in the mirror. Trust me. I know.

If you have never heard of Fabletics before, let me tell you a little more about it.

Basically it is a subscription service. So every month, they come out with new outfits, and you have the option every month to either purchase an outfit for 49.95 (I believe), or you can skip the month and you will not be charged at all. Or you can do what I do, and skip every month until there is a huge sale, and you can get 6 to 8 pieces of clothing for about $50.00. Yes, I work the system, but can you blame me?

Back to the leggings.

I have tried a couple different types of leggings from Fabletics, but I have to say I only really like the Lisette legging in either 7/8 or full length. And why do you think I like them? Because they are high waisted of course! The waist band comes up to about my belly button, sucks me in, and makes me feel good. Also these leggings have a little pocket built in which just about fits an iPhone 6s, definitely would not fit the 6 plus though. I think that this little pocket is intended more for a card or keys though, but to each its own. These leggings are also a great material for exercising. They aren’t see through and they are moisture wicking, and in the two pairs that I have you cannot see any sweat stains. Which, let’s be honest, is important because looking like you peed your pants, when it is really just sweat, is just awkward.

Here are my two pairs of Lisette leggings:

These leggings come in a ton of different colors and patterns, which I love, as you can tell. I don’t know why I only have two crazy patterns in these leggings, but I am just going to roll with it. I have crazy leggings to match my crazy personality.

  1. I will share this with my mom because she needs to know that I’m not the only one int the world addicted to leggings, tshirt dresses, and jeans. I’m a simple girl too. The colors in my closet are mostly grey and black. However, I don’t mind having colorful hair.

I’m also a bulk shopper too. I don’t really like shopping unless there is a massive deal going on. I don’t really have a favorite brand of leggings, but you can find me a lot at old navy, Ross, and Jc Penny

    • Girl, you get me. Haha. My wardrobe everyday wardrobe is very basic, greys, neutrals, stripes, but my athletic wardrobe is much more fun!

    • Same! But I always look for the same features in leggings. I have had such a good experience with Fabletics, and they have so so much more to offer than just leggings, I hope you like it!

  2. I just started working out seriously, well, seriously for me, in January. I had a lot of fun shopping for my workout wardrobe. When I need to add something new, I may try Fabletics but I’m not sure I want to make that ongoing commitment.

  3. It’s almost like you knew I’m on the lookout for some leggings! I also don’t go near leggings unless they’re high waisted! Love your recommendations x

  4. I’ve never tried Fabletics, but I see their ads all the time. I also practically live in workout gear, so I might check them out!

  5. I rarely wear leggings, mostly because work does not allow them. However, if I did, I would LOVE to look into the Old Navy leggings. I really like the design of them and the fact that it looks really durable and comfy.

    • The Old Navy leggings are very durable, and come in so many different patterns, solids, and materials so you could definitely find really comfy ones.

  6. This is really useful. I work out a lot, but never gave a second thought to my leggings, as in thinking to buy proper ones. I just usually use whatever pair I have lying around, but now you got me thinking I should get a sturdier set πŸ™‚

  7. You almost have me convinced to get leggings! if I was about 5 sizes smaller I probably would try them! glad to hear you don’t have to get them from an expensive MLM place!

  8. Hey, I’m all about the high waisted everything! I hate anything that is “mid” or “low” rise, bleh! Those leggings are so cute! I especially love the floral ones, they’re so pretty!!!!

  9. Oh yes, I love such leggings and yes you got another high waist loving mate in me:). Such leggings are so comfy and perfect for workouts.
